What is ELCAS?

The Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELC) is an MoD initiative to support lifelong learning for Armed Forces personnel. It provides financial assistance of up to 80% of course costs, helping you gain valuable qualifications during your service and up to 10 years after leaving. Depending on your service duration, you can receive between £1,000 and £3,000 per year. Eligibility requires a minimum of six years of qualifying service, with only one ELC claim allowed per financial year, all with a single provider.

How to Apply for ELCAS Funding: A 5-Step Process

1. Eligibility Check: Ensure you are a registered Scheme Member with sufficient service time before submitting an online claim.
2. Consult Education Staff: If currently serving, speak with your Education Staff. If you have left the Services, contact your Single Service Representative (SSR) for account setup.
3. Search and Select: Once your account is active, search for Learna as an approved provider and choose your course.
4. Submit Your Claim: Log in to your account and submit your claim for the chosen course.
5. Complete Course Evaluation: Upon course completion, fill out the Course Evaluation when requested. Note that further claims require completion of previous evaluations.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must complete an online claim and submit it to your Education Staff at least 25 working days before your course start date.
Once you receive your Claim Authorisation Note (CAN), present it to your Learning Provider before the course begins.
